The Problem

There is an 80% chance that your building is not fire compliant! If you are like most, you assume your building is fire compliant, however, a recent audit of over 200 Victorian buildings showed that 80% failed on an easily remedied requirement. What was the point of failure? Australian Regulations state that a reset key for all Manual Call Points (MCP) throughout the building must be present in your building's fire panel. These keys have been very difficult to source and replace for years. Some are no longer available. As a result, buildings slip out of compliance and fire technicians make a fortune in call out fees to reset your alarms.

On average MCP’s are falsely activated 2x a year and require a fire technician to reset these for a hefty price. This costs you and all other owners an average of $600 to $1200 a year in technician call out fees for resets after each false alarm and more if resets are required after maintenance works.

Australian Standard 1851 stipulates that part of the monthly schedule is to: "ENSURE at least one MCP replacement element and tool are available for replacing the element where required."

Non-compliant buildings can be charged up to $80 000 for being in breach in non-compliance fines.

This can also create trouble for insurance purposes.
